About This Class

In this studio series, you will create one beautiful silk scarf over the course of 4 weeks. This is a lovely tranquil class, where you can watch colors blossom and blend into your silk in a low-stakes low-stress environment. You will learn to use traditional gutta techniques to create separate areas for different colors, and you will use dyes to stain the silk a rainbow of shimmering translucent colors. In the first session, you will practice drawing gutta lines, blending colors and creating your own style. You will have two sessions to work on your scarf, and then in the final session, we will steam set your silk pattern, rinse out the gutta lines, and iron to finish your piece. You will leave class knowing how to do the complete process.
